After having only started throwing large scale works last year in 2022, I took on the challenge to create a series of planters. My practice revolves around the dramatic differences in scale. Growing up in the traditional potters village of Kangra, I have been used to creating small scale pieces such as Diyas which influenced my love of making miniatures. This collection of large planters marks a deliberate exercise of my evolving skills and throwing capabilities, honed over the past year. It represents a pursuit of pushing the boundaries of my physical and technical abilities, an exploration into the extremes of scale.

The finish is an olive green speckled Tenmoku glaze that is made up of copper and iron oxide with a transparent base glaze that was sprayed over the bisque terracotta piece and fired to 1050 degrees.
