Reclining iridescence, delicately formed from smooth, flowing ceramic with a strong metallic glaze that embodies a sense of confidence and self sufficiency.

When I was very new to ceramics I tried to make this lady and accidentally chipped and broke it several times. As the material and subject was new, each time it would break, I felt like a part of me broke too, however that was the lesson behind it and I kept trying and making it again from scratch. On the fourth attempt, I finally succeeded. I had finished 2 years working with clay by then.

Along with the natural process where the artist subconsciously exhibits herself in her artwork, I feel this lady has more importantly been a teacher who taught me how to handle the most delicate works or clay in its several stages and to never give up when you encounter failures because that’s the test clay challenges you to.
