As a part of my “Text Message” series, this hand-built ceramic cup, “Paranoia”, is inspired by a time I was dealing with crippling anxiety, which manifested in different ways – one of it being “Paranoia”. The interiors of the cup display a text I received in real life, which reads,”there’s no one watching you. There’s no one in your room. Go to bed. Goodnight.”

My goal was to make something visually appealing and humorous out of something terrifying, traumatic and gruesome.

This ceramic cup was made using the slab technique, and folded in a way that compliments the illustration. The folds almost mimic the texture of paper creating a lively doodled-on effect to the overall look of the piece.

”Paranoia” can be used as a cup, small vase or a pen stand. This series of small ceramic pots are multi-functional to suit all your decorative needs. This stoneware piece is decorated with under-glaze illustrations and then finished with a transparent glaze and fired to 1200 degrees.
