“Fantasy Animals” depicts a fantastical world filled with a host of fictitious creatures. On the cup’s interior, the text narrates a conversation between an artist and her friend about where the artist is describing her favourite animals. The artist has a lot of favourite animals but all of them are imaginary.

With “Fantasy Animals” I am able to freely express my inner-most joyful and creative thoughts through these make-believe surrealist creatures. I have an affinity with all animals so being able to express that infinity in combination with my love for daydreaming fantastical worlds is a great joy and privilege that I find within my artwork.

“Fantasy Animals” was carefully crafted out of stoneware clay using the handbuilding technique known as slab-building. The clay is then folded in a way that compliments the illustration as the folds almost mimic the texture of paper creating a lively doodled-on effect to the overall look of the piece.

“Fantasy Animals” can be used as a cup, small vase or a pen stand. This series of small ceramic pots are multi-functional to suit all your decorative needs. This stoneware piece is decorated with under-glaze illustrations and then finished with a transparent glaze and fired to 1200 degrees.
