‘Solar Embrace’ is a standalone creation in my expansive ‘Emanation series.’ Unlike my usual process, I abandoned sketches and miniature models, allowing the clay to dictate its own form. Crafting this piece without visual preconceptions felt like navigating blindfolded, immersing myself in the clay’s guidance and forging a profound connection with the material. Throughout this unscripted journey, a continuous inner dialogue unfolded, breathing life into the piece.

The final result, adorned with a blend of oxides and a gloss finishing glaze, radiates an aura of fire and lava. Its transformative colours create a mesmerising illusion of the glaze perpetually flowing. Both the form and the glaze took on a life of their own. Here, I felt I had merely played a role in the creation of a piece that alone embodies the personification and essence of a ‘Solar Embrace’.

The ‘Emanation Series’ is an exploration of the cosmic dance between my hands and the malleable nature of clay. Each piece within the series originates from the same starting point, emphasising my commitment to following the organic flow of creation.  The process is a dynamic interplay between intention and surrender, resulting in bulges and curves that reflect the ebb and flow of emotions coursing through my mind. The clay, once a neutral canvas, absorbs and expresses my emotional states during the building process. The resulting shapes carry a living soul, each piece encapsulating a distinct emotional journey. I invite you to discern the subtle nuances in form and gesture, interpreting the silent dialogue between me and clay.
