This unique wheel-thrown vase has gone through several processes of alteration on the wheel to get to this expressive stage. The tall shape is formed then alterations are made during throwing to achieve texture with the artist pushing the material to its limits once the cracking effect takes hold of the shape. Once fired the shape retains its rigidity and is then finally glazed in an iridescent blend of browns, blues and greens giving it an organic and natural overall finish with the texture mimicking that of moss covered rocky outcrops. This piece would work well as a distinctive centrepiece in any home.
